How to measure your shirt correctly?
Width: Lay the shirt flat on the ground (preferably a hard surface) and smooth the fabric out so that there are no wrinkles underneath or on top. Pull the fabric tight, but don’t stretch it. Place the measuring tape at the top of the seam where the sleeve attaches to the body of the shirt and measure across to the same point on the other side of the shirt. Don’t worry if you measure beyond the side seam on the shirt, just measure the shirt flat across.
Length: Lay the shirt flat on the ground with the back of the shirt facing up. Place the measuring tape at the seam where the collar band attaches to the yoke (the fabric that sits across the shoulders) and measure straight down the middle of the back of the shirt to the hem at its longest point.
Sleeve Length: Lay the shirt flat with the back facing up. Extend the right sleeve out to the side and smooth it out as much as possible. Start the tape measure at the middle of the yoke, just below the collar band and measure out to the seam where the yoke attaches to the sleeve. Place a finger on the measuring tape at the seam where the yoke attaches to the sleeve to keep it in place, and then pull the tape measure taut to the end edge of the cuff on the sleeve.

The subway car lurched, sending a ripple of bodies down the aisle. A teenage girl with bright purple hair was blasting K-Pop through her headphones, oblivious to the glares she was receiving. An elderly man wrestled with a newspaper the size of a small country, muttering about inflation. And squeezed between them, a harried-looking woman struggled to hold onto a bag overflowing with groceries and a toddler determined to climb out of his stroller.
Suddenly, a booming voice cut through the cacophony. “Hey, nice shirt!”
Everyone turned to see a burly guy with a handlebar mustache pointing at a young man across the aisle. The young man, who looked like he hadn’t slept in days, was wearing a slightly faded, but noticeable, “Official Injustice Is Not Inevitable T Shirt Sweater.”
“Thanks,” he mumbled, looking uncomfortable under the attention.
“Truth!” the burly guy declared, thumping his chest. “Gotta fight the power, man. Injustice is definitely NOT inevitable. Preach!” He winked, then returned to his crossword puzzle, leaving the young man flushed but with a tiny smile playing on his lips. The woman with the toddler sighed, rearranging her groceries, a flicker of something that might have been hope in her eyes. The subway rumbled on, carrying its cargo of everyday lives and quiet revolutions.
